  have vivid memories of life-changing moments. Rarely\, however\, do we re
 cognize\nthe impact those memories may have on our futures.\nFor me\, it w
 as when\, as a Private in the U.S. Army\, my Sergeant cared enough to take
  the\ntime to tell me\, “Go get a Roth IRA.” That may not sound like much\
 , but when having a\nspecial-needs child ended my military service\, that 
 exhibition of care provided a foundation\nfor my service to others.\n\nWhi
 le finishing my graduate degree\, I was led to serve abuse victims as the 
 executive\ndirector of Crisis Intervention Services. We provided outreach\
 , court advocacy\, emergency\nshelter and transitional housing. I learned 
 the importance of self-sufficiency and began\nvolunteering as a financial 
 counselor.\n\nMy passion took me on an amazing career journey which has al
 lowed me to help others\nflourish in personal growth\, boldness and self-c
 onfidence. I taught at William Penn\nUniversity\, provided workshops for f
 irst-time home buyers\, served families in need and\nchild care providers 
 through the DHS Child Care Bureau\, and served as the executive\ndirector 
 of Mahaska County YMCA.\n\nI then joined Edward Jones and relocated to Des
  Moines where I continue my journey of\nhelping through helping clients pl
 an for their financial futures. When I’m not at the office\nwith my BOA\, 
 Lisa Thai\, you’ll find me around Beaverdale with my family enjoying the\n
 outdoors. I volunteer with the Des Moines West Side Chamber of Commerce\, 
 Iowa\nCoalition Against Sexual Assault\, American Business Women Associati
 on and the\nConsortium. I enjoy cheering for my son and daughter\; Jessica
  and her Roosevelt High\nswim team\, Sam and his Special Olympics teams.\n
 \nI live to serve others. My diverse experiences and compassion help me ap
 preciate your\nunique financial needs allowing me to create personalized s
 trategies. I want to be there for\nyou for the rest of our lives\, because
